The Government Medical Officers Association (GMOA) today alleged that certain Indian doctors operating in private hospitals in Sri Lanka did not have the necessary expertise to treat patients. The attention of the Health Minister is being sought regarding this matter.
The GMOA stated that during the past few years there had been an immense growth of private hospitals in the country and that some of these hospitals employed specialist Indian doctors.
They alleged that some of the Indian doctors and anesthetists who perform cardiothoracic surgery did not have the necessary expertise to perform those medical procedures and that hindered the quality of care given to the local patients.
Moreover they added that because of short period of time that the Indian doctors resided in the island, the Post Operative Care (POC) due to the patients also faced problems.
So taking to account all of these ramifications the necessary attention of the Health Minster is being sought by the GMOA to bring about the necessary laws and regulations to curb this issue.
