President Mahinda Rajapakse stated that the public should take a stand and ‘do their duty’ towards the country instead of expecting the government ‘to do everything’. He made the comments with regard to the dengue situation prevailing in the country.
The President was speaking at the opening ceremony of the Maternity and Children’s Ward of the Ratnapura General Hospital this morning,
President Rajapakse said, “People should do their duty towards the country. They should take measures to clean their gardens and then we can eliminate this dangerous situation. The government can’t handle this situation on its own. We have to do this with the assistance of the public. Meanwhile we will also take measures to import medicine, dengue eradicating bacteria from other countries.”
