A policeman who applied to join the LTTE has been arrested and placed under detention orders, officials said.The suspect was identified as Arangalage Manjula Shri Prabath who served as a Sub Inspector at the Mt Lavina HQI office. 

He had submitted an application to the LTTE with his photograph attached to it. The application was detected during clearing operations by the security forces in Pudukudirippu in August last year. 

However the suspect soon after had fled the country and was recently arrested on his return. 

Investigations have revealed that he had provided to the LTTE vital information about the Police Headquarters and the Colombo Port.
