A driver and his assistant were nabbed on late Thursday while attempting to sell off some 700 bags of fertilizer that was pilfered from a state storage at Hunupitiya in Wattala, police said today.
They said the suspects were nabbed while attempting to sell the fertilizer to under cover police sleuths disguised as prospective buyers at Akkaraipattu.
The fertilizer was worth some Rs. four million.
Police are investigating to ascertain if the suspects had been involved in similar raids on the storage facility on previous occasions.
