Two persons were taken into custody along with a fire arm and an explosive following a botched up armed robbery and a dramatic street chase in the Panadura-Moratuwa area yesterday morning, police said today.

It all began after the two suspects had threatened a businessman at gun point and removed some Rs. 230,000 while the man was approaching a bank at Panadura on his van, they said.

According to police the gunmen who had come on a motorcycle had later attempted to get away speeding towards Moratuwa hotly chased by the businessman in his van.

The businessman later deliberately crashed on to the motorcycle which floored the suspects. They were later apprehended with assistance from the public and the police was called in.
